The month of July was also very bad in terms of box office receipts of Hindi films. Eight films were released at the Hindi box office on five Fridays in July, of which only one was a Hindi dub of an English film. But only this English movie can survive at the box office. Everything else failed completely.
These seven films were Rocketry The Nambi Effect which had a budget of 60 crores, Rashtra Kavach Om which had a budget of 40 crores, Khuda Hafiz and Shabaash Mithu with a budget of 30 – 30 crores, Hit The First Case which had a budget of 35 crores, Shamshera with a budget of 150 crores and Ek Villain Returns with a budget of 80 crores. The total budget of these seven films is 425 crores. At the same time, the total earnings of these seven films is around 102 crores. This means that in the month of July, the box office suffered a loss of 323 crores from Hindi films.

Tellingly, during the month of January to June, Bollywood has already suffered a lot. During these six months, 18 Hindi films were released. These 18 Hindi films together grossed a total of 908 crores at the box office. On the other hand, if the budget of these 18 films is seen, then the total budget of these 18 films is 1680 crores. Interestingly, except for two of these films, all the rest were big budget films.
January to June in Hindi by 777 Charlie, KGF 2 in Kannada in South India, Vikram, Beast and Valimai in Tamil and Khiladi, Major and RRR in Telugu. In these, except for Beast and Valimai, all the other films also earned a lot in Hindi. In total, all these films earned 731 crores at the box office. At the same time, no South Indian film has earned less than 1.5 crores in Hindi.

In the month of July, high expectations were placed on Yash Raj Films’ Shamshera. In the last six months, only three Hindi films managed to save the reputation of Bollywood. These three films were Gangubai Kathiawadi, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and The Kashmir Files. In such a situation, expectations were laid from July, which did not come true. See the box office report for the month of July.
beginning of July
Two films were released on the first Friday of July – R Madhavan’s Rocketry The Nambi Effect, which was also released in Tamil and Malayalam along with Hindi. The second film was Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjana Sanghi starrer Om The Battle Within. The name of this film was changed at the last moment to Rashtra Kavach Om. Interestingly, despite being trolled a lot, Rashtra Kavach Om seems to have given R Madhavan’s Rocketry some serious competition at the box office and in two days Aditya Roy Kapur’s film has surpassed R Madhavan’s film.
Missile case
Rocketry opened to 1.25 crores at the box office. The film earned 2.5 crores over the weekend. The film gained some momentum in the first week of its release and earned 8.5 crores. But then the film managed to earn only 14.5 crores in a month. While the budget of this R Madhavan film is 60 crores. The film failed at the Hindi box office.

While the film opened on Friday 1st July 1.5 crores, on the second day on Saturday the film earned 1.7 crores and earned 3.2 crores in two days. But after giving a weekend of 3.5 crores in three days, the film stalled as soon as it gave a first week of 7.2 crores and could not take a step forward from it.

Hit vs. Bravo Mitu
Next week, that is. on July 15, three OTT stars clashed – Taapsee Pannu’s film Shabaash Mithu and Rajkumar Rao’s Sanya Malhotra’s film Hit The First Case. All the three stars have achieved big success from direct OTT release films. If Shabaash Mithu and Hit were also released on direct OTT, maybe it wouldn’t have failed so badly. Shabaash Mithu opened only 50 lakh while Rajkumar – Sanya starrer opened with 1.3 crores. While the hit made a lifetime collection of 7.5 crores and was a flop, Taapsee Pannu’s Mithali Raj biopic also earned only 2.75 crores and failed miserably.
shamsher’s waist broken
Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt starrer Shamshera released on July 22. Everyone was expecting from this ambitious project of Yash Raj Films. But Ranbir Kapoor couldn’t even touch the 14 crore opening of Karthik Aryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Shamshera gave a start of 10.2 crores and the very bad word of the film did not allow it to rise. The first weekend the movie earned 31 crores and now the movie lost its power earning 41 crores. The budget of the film was 150 crores and it failed miserably.
